it's all about the dress

kai milla
now that the election is over, the inaugural ball is fast approaching and i for one am terribly jealous of mrs. obama at the moment. can you imagine how it would feel to have so many designers fighting to dress you? as mrs. obama is tall and elegant, i am certain that the designers she chooses will be thrilled for their design houses over the next four years. michelle is still young and stylish and i am anxious to see what she chooses in january. in the meantime, here are a few of my favorite sketches if i were choosing a gown for the ball:

monique lhuillier. very washington-y.

koi suwannagate

isaac mizrahi (love him!)

karl lagerfeld for chanel. i literally think i might faint if mr. lagerfeld made a sketch for me.

badgley mischka. hellooooo fabulous!

marc jacobs. if i were mrs. obama, i would be wondering who mr. jacobs wanted to win the election. doesn't this sketch look creepishly like hilary?

carolina herrera
and here are my top two totally gorgeous, i-can't-choose-between-them picks:

diane von furstenburg

michael kors
soooo gorgeous. you can see the rest of the sketches (forty in all!) including betsey johnson's totally on crack sketch (i've seriously never seen anything so ugly) at womens wear daily. check it out and let me know which one you'd choose!
